You know how awful can be Christmas if have a cold or caught the flu – the illness will ruin all the fun! This is the worst day to stay in bed, coughing and with high fever, so find out how to beat the cold in only 24 hours.
7 a.m. – The first thing you should do when you wake up in the morning is to take a hot shower. The steam will clear bunged up sinuses and the hot water will sooth the throbbing limbs.
8 a.m. – It’s time for breakfast – oatmeal with mixed berries will be a great food for you because it has lots of anti-oxidants, but if you don’t have an appetite, at least try orange/grapefruit juice rich in vitamin C. And don’t forget the coffee – it’s better be double; if you prefer tea, make it stronger – this will help you feel strong and energetic.
10 a.m. – A shower and a breakfast won’t help you so take some conventional medicines like aspirin, paracetamol, cough syrups and throat lozenges. In fact, for a better effect, take two paracetamol tablets with another coffee and a lemon juice. The next thing you can do is to put your head over a steaming bowl of hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. You can put some herbs in water – chamomile, thyme or what you can find at home.
11-12 a.m. – Take a walk. It will make you feel better, even if it’s cold outside.
1 p.m. – Have a chicken soup or chicken salad for lunch. Proteins are responsible for building immune cells and play a major role in prompting an immune response. Besides, hot soup is always good when you are ill. After the lunch take a nap – sleep helps your body recover.
3 p.m. – It’s time for herbal teas and liquids. They expel mucus from the body, so you can drink herbal tea all day.
6 p.m. – For the dinner pick something spicy – a curry or a Mexican chili. You can also have your ordinary dinner but add some spices to it – ingredients like garlic, ginger and chili peppers have anti-bacterial properties. They will also help you clear the sinuses, and in many cases, they will be only food you can actually taste.
8 p.m. – Take a nice, hot bath. Your muscles are probably aching so soaking in the bath will be wonderful. Another, final steam is very likely to wipe out the virus.
10 p.m. – Go to bed and try to sleep for at least eight hours. The good night’s sleep can help you strengthen as quickly as possible. Avoid coffee and alcohol in the evening so you can enjoy your sleep.
Most people can’t take a sick day but this regime works even if you are at work, so don’t hesitate to try it. You’ll see you’ll be new for Christmas.
